Volunteer Job Descriptions
Announcer - This person announces each event for clerk of course. Also announces the event and heat numbers for each race and makes any other announcements that are needed during the meet. 1 position, full meet
Back Up Timer - starts their watches on every race in case another timer's watch malfunctions. 2 half meet positions, 1 each half
Clerk of Course - Organize the swimmers at the clerk of course (near deep end) and line them up in the chairs behind the blocks. 4 half meet positions, 2 each half, switch after backstroke
Computer Worker - enters the final times for the swimmers in our computer system. 2 positions, full meet
Concessions Workers - Work the concessions stand handling food and money, this is a major fundraiser for the team. 8 half-meet positions, 4 each half, switch after backstroke
Friday Evening Set Up - Prep the pool for the swim meet, including installing the blocks, setting up clerk of course, putting up flags, removing ladders, and more. 5 positions, arrive at the pool at 7:00 pm night before
Head Timer - Runs two watches as backup and makes sure all timers report to their lanes. 2 half meet positions, switch after backstroke
Heat Winner Rewards - Gives the heat winner a reward. 2 half meet positions, switch after backstroke (can be a non-swimming sibling that works this job)
Meet Clean Up and Break Down - This position is responsible for staying after the meet to help break down and clean up. 4 positions, work is done when meet is over
Parking Lot Attendant - work the parking lot to help direct the visiting team where to park and ensure FO parents park at funeral home. 2 positions, done when meet begins
Runner - "Run" timer sheets from timers to table workers. 2 half meet positions, switch after backstroke
Saturday morning meet set up - This position is responsible for assisting on Saturday morning with set up of the pool and grounds. 3 positions, arrive at 7:30am
Stroke & Turn Judge - Must be CMSL or USA Certified. 2 half meet positions, switch after backstroke
Table Workers - Work with computer worker, circle time sheets, verify times before posting, labels ribbons. 4 positions half meet positions
Timers - Time the events. 24 positions, 12 each half, switch after backstroke
Water Runner - This position is responsible for ensuring there is a cooler of water bottles available on deck for the volunteers AND ensures it gets refilled throughout the meet. 1 position
